French Country Paintings

Léonide Bourges (1838–1910) painted these lovely French Countryside scenes. As a member of the 'Ecole de 1830' movement, she was a pupil of Edouard Frère and Théodore Salmon, and later befriended Charles Daubigny and Corot. Bourges began exhibiting still life and genre paintings at the Salon in 1857 and also showcased her work in London.

These framed paintings, measuring 12 1/2" x 9 1/2", were initially intended for a country home but could easily transition to a more formal setting with a change of framing. These gems are wonderful renditions of French country life.
